A herding breedThe Bearded Collie is a herding breed. They are energetic, happy and not ashamed to say so. They will notice movement, things that stand out in the environment and unruly groups of dogs or people. Personalities vary, and sensitivity to loud noises is not unheard of. All of this works really well for a herding dog. Unruly sheep, sheep away from the group, listening to the shepherd further away. In our modern world we need to make sure we teach the young Bearded Collie how to respond to all these stimuli. We also want to make sure we are the shepherds and not the sheep ;) A friendly, outgoing, happy, bouncy ball of furYes, there's no way to hide it, the Bearded Collie is happy, happy to see you his owner; happy to see, well pretty much anybody that comes their way. :) In fact so happy he could hug you!!! A social breed, Beardies get along well with other dogs and cats. With that bouncy energetic approach, the mad beardie dash through the yard may just overstimulate some, so we need to teach our Beardie manners. ;) Agile & FastUnderneath the bouncy Beardie hair is the lean and slim body of a racer. Beardies are fast and outcorner our German Shepherds easily. Teach your Beardies a good solid recall, they are notoriously hard to catch! ;) Energy to spare |
